How to Chair Meetings Effectively
About the workshop
Chairing meetings effectively involves a difficult balancing act. On the one hand you need to manage the agenda and process whilst on the other hand you need to manage the people effectively. This is often easier said than done.
Chairing and attending meetings can often be a source of irritation and we have all probably been in the position of wondering when the current meeting is going to end. This workshop has been designed to help participants to further develop their skills in chairing meetings.

Those individuals who are involved in chairing meetings and who would benefit by reviewing and enhancing their skills.
Workshop objectives
By the end of the workshop, each participant will
- Have reviewed the skills involved in planning, preparing and running effective meetings
- Have gained further insight into some of the behavioural issues involved in running meetings
- Have gained further insight into different approaches/styles they might employ

- The role of the chair
- Planning and preparation
- Managing the meeting and chairing effectively
- Dealing with different situations
- Understanding the structure of language (verbal and non verbal) and behaviours in the meeting context
- Trying something different
The workshop will involve short inputs, discussion and practical exercises to give each participant the opportunity to enhance their skills
