Holding an Award in First Line Management demonstrates that you have undertaken and become qualified in basic management practice. The award is based on several unites, which will develop the knowledge required to carry out a first line management role. The Award is a management level three qualification. This course may be for you if you are currently a new practising manager or supervisor or aspiring to move into a first managerial role.

The programme is designed to commence with an introductory day, which will provide participants with information and knowledge about the course and the Institute of Leadership & Management (the awarding body). It follows with five further one-day workshops.
The Programme overall will be completed in around six months (please note that this programme can be designed for organisations with particular needs and focus and the duration of the development programme can be shortened). There is an indicative study period of 51 hours. Candidates need to attend all the workshops for the full credit rating or demonstrate learning through additional reading/distance learning.
The Programme is divided into six modules (or units) and they include the following:

Module Three - Planning and Managing Change
Module Four - Solving Problems and Decision Making
Module Five - Influencing Others
Module Six - Working with Costs and Budgets
There are several parts to the assessment process. These include Workbased assignments and Reflective Reviews. The Workbased assignments are intentionally short (typically 1,000 - 1,500 words) and focused on your working and managerial practices. A Personal Development Record will also be completed. A sample of work is also assessed by the External Verifier.
The BDC provides participants with group support and should the occasion arise individual and telephone support for the programme.
The Tutor is a point of contact and will undertake to deliver teaching sessions, as well as give individual advice. The Programme Manager is also available for advice.
Candidates need to be working in a newly appointed managerial/supervisory role or looking toward a career development into management.
