Testing Services

In our work we often use a range of psychometric tests, indicators and inventories to inform selection decisions and also to support our work with both individuals and teams. These instruments help individuals to self assess their typical or preferred way of behaving and offer some useful insights. Tests need to be administered and interpreted both with care and sensitivity and usually by a licensed practitioner. At the BDC we offer a comprehensive range of testing services tailored to meet the exact requirements of our clients. These include:

Recruitment Profiling

This involves determining with the client the requirements of the job and then recommending appropriate psychometric tests designed to gather information linked to the job profile. Our services include the preparation of either or both verbal and written feedback reports. Psychometric tests typically fall into two categories namely:

As part of the package we always provide feedback and advice to candidates. This is good practice but also ensures the candidates benefit from the experience.

Career Management

Either in one to one work or in career review workshops the use of instruments such as the Career Anchors Inventory, Careers Interest Inventory and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator enable individuals to take stock and to reflect on their career drivers and motivations. Typically this diagnostic element helps to provide an opportunity for structured self reflection and to afford a greater insight so that an action plan can be developed.

Team Working

Our work often focuses on team effectiveness and the need to explore the different personalities and preferred team roles of the team members is crucial to this. To assist in diagnosing teams and team members a range of instruments are available including the popular Belbin Team Inventory and the Myers Briggs Type Indicator. As part of our work with teams we can also incorporate a 360° review of the individuals and the team and provide written reports.

Coaching

In our one to one work a number of diagnostic instruments are used to help individuals to gain a greater insight. These may cover some of the above but also include inventories to assess leadership style, negotiating and influencing style, conflict resolution and personal effectiveness etc. It is also possible to incorporate the use of the NHS Leadership Qualities 360º instrument to provide detailed feedback and to help with the creation of an effective Personal Development Plan.

Using tests with sensitivity and in an appropriate manner is vital to ensure that they are used properly and interpreted in a professional manner. This is where our services can be of greatest use.
